The Delavan-Darien School District is excited to announce the appointment of Kyle Polzin as the new Athletic and Activities Director for the District. Kyle brings a wealth of experience and passion to our school community, and we are excited to have him in this new position.
Polzin has a strong background in athletics and activities, having worked as a coach and teacher at both the high school and middle school levels. He is committed to providing a positive and inclusive environment for all students. Kyle understands the importance of extracurricular activities in fostering personal growth and development for all our students in the District.
As Athletic and Activities Director, Polzin will oversee all of our school's athletic teams and extracurricular activities. He will work closely with coaches and advisors to ensure that our programs are safe, well-organized, and effective at developing skills and building character. Polzin will also be responsible for scheduling games and events, managing budgets, and coordinating transportation and other logistics.
“We are looking forward to bringing Kyle in and having him collaborate with our administrative team to continue to provide additional engaging opportunities, whether they are sports, activities, or clubs, so our students can entertain options to experience for themselves,” said Jim Karedes, Delavan-Darien High School Principal. “I plan to work closely with Kyle so we can take his energy and mold it into what this community needs to provide for its students. Given his level of experience and commitment while he was a high school student, we are hopeful he can translate that to our current students to better engage them in extracurricular activities and opportunities afforded to all of our students,” states Karedes.
We have found a leader who shares our values, vision and commitment to excellence. Polzin brings a fresh perspective and a proven track record of success, having overseen the growth of the DDHS Comets Baseball & Football Teams over the last eight years. We are confident that Kyle Polzin will help take our athletic and activities programs to new heights.
“I am ecstatic to take this next step in my career and lead the athletic and activities programs,” said Polzin. “I believe our programs can mold and develop students into well-rounded, high character driven individuals and serve as a powerful tool for personal and collective growth. I look forward to working with the student body, athletes, coaches, staff, administrators and the Delavan-Darien community to build a culture of excellence both on and off the field.”
This is Kyle's eighth year teaching in the Delavan-Darien School District, serving as a 5th grade mathematics teacher the past five years at Phoenix Middle School. During this time, he has served as a team leader and District mentor. Kyle has been coaching football at DDHS for eight years, with the last five years as a varsity assistant coach. He currently serves as the defensive coordinator and running backs coach. This past fall, he was named the Rock Valley Conference Assistant Coach of the Year. Kyle is currently the head coach for the DDHS Varsity Baseball Team too. Polzin is a DDHS alumni and participated in football, baseball, wrestling, and basketball while he was in high school. In football, he was a three-year letter winner and was awarded 2nd-Team All-Conference Linebacker and "Most Consistent Defensive Player of the Year" his senior year in 2008. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in 2015 with a degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Social Studies. Coaching has always been his passion. It is very important to him because it allows him the chance to work with students outside of the classroom.
“Kyle Polzin is an incredible educator and human being. He will be a huge asset in any role within our District,” said Ms. Urmanski, Phoenix Middle School Principal. “I am excited to work with him as he takes on this new adventure as the Director of Athletics and Activities and to learn from him. I look forward to working with him to increase the opportunities that are provided to our students and to increase participation.
Urmanski states, “I look forward to building a program that we can all be proud of that connects our Youth Programs, with the middle school program, and feeds into the high school program. It will be hard to replace such a strong and talented educator in the classroom, but Mr. Polzin will take on a larger leadership role across our District and will have an even greater impact on our students, our families, our staff, and our community.”
We are confident that Polzin will be a great addition to our athletics and activities community and we look forward to the many contributions he will make in the years to come. Please join us in welcoming Polzin to this new position and wishing him all the best in his new role. The Delavan-Darien School District is proud to have you in this position and we thank you for your hard work, determination and commitment to our District.
