Darien students have 'snow' much fun at recess!
More students being recognized by peers for being kind. We are so proud of you (and their parents too)!
Darien students were working on throwing and catching a football this past week. Here the kids are playing “Make It, Take It” to work on their skills followed by some multiplication and addition to find their scores.
Darien students are participating in a kindness challenge where they can recognize other studens for being kind. Those students receive a KIND bar donated by the KIND company. Check out our first nominated students!
3rd graders in guided reading have been learning about the difference between poetry, prose, and drama in guided reading. Kids were practicing determining the difference of each by "scooting" around, reading cards and deciding which card had which type of writing on the card.
Mr. Malnar, PE teacher at Darien worked with Lisa from UW Extension to provide nutrition lessons for 5 weeks. Here the students are learning about the 5 food groups and My Plate.
These students were recognized by their teachers for the Cooperation Award and charm for this month. Congratulations to all students and their parents. They continue to make us proud!
3rd graders have been working hard on their multiplication facts during math class. Daily practice is very helpful! And who doesn't love a Monster-plication monster?!
Volunteers Needed!

Last spring while reading a book called Bren Bataclan Smile Artist by Mia Lewis, Briggs (now in 5th grade) had a few questions for the author so he wrote a letter to Mr. Bataclan. Mr. Bataclan is an artist that paints pictures and leaves them for people to find to make them smile. Mr. Bataclan replied by sending a painting. Can you guess what it was? It was a cow painting for Darien School. He definitely made someone smile with this painting.
Darien students got off to a great start of the school year today! It was so great to see all of the smiling faces (from both staff and students). Students got to know one another, the rules/expectations, and complete some challenges with their classmates.

Summer is Bookmobile time! Students at Darien who signed up to participate in the summer reading program were able to select their books this morning from the Bookmobile. The first date to exchange your books from the Bookmobile is June 17th. See you then!
